Pseudosyncope
From Expert System: Fainting (Syncope)
Pseudosyncope is the reported symptom of fainting and falling in the absence of impaired consciousness. Patients with psychiatric disorders may report fainting without the pallor, sweating, or actual loss of awareness typically associated with syncope. Usually such symptoms occur as an array of physical symptoms rather than in isolation. Observation of an event or cardiac monitoring may be required for diagnosis. Injury during a syncopal episode does not distinguish psychiatric pseudosyncope from true syncope. Pseudosyncope is more common than generally appreciated.
Rarely, sudden falling due to disorders of the knee or hip joint, or associated with weakness of the quadriceps (leg muscles), may be confused with fainting due to loss of consciousness.
